His daughter, Elizabeth Afton, would be killed by one of the animatronics he built. He was a wealthy businessman and inventor who secretly built animatronics to hunt and kill young children, which went unknown by his partner, Henry Emily. His story is told via arcade styled minigames, in which he looms in the shadows, appearing as a purple figure.
His role in the franchise's story is pivotal. He was a serial killer who targeted infants and young children, and who was directly responsible for all of the incidents and tragedies throughout the series. William Afton, also known as the Purple Guy and The Employee, was the co-founder of Fazbear Entertainment, as well as the main antagonist of the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise. Killed after his Springlock Suit malfunctioned whilst he was still inside of it, causing his chest and skull to be crushed.
